A beautiful children's book which helps us to understand changes in llife, as in a death of a loved one. Charlotte Zolotow's soft and heart-felt story along with her lovely illustrations make this a good basis for discussion of life's changes.
Dr. Johnson has a large series of biographies written for children called The Value Tales. For instance, there's The Value of Courage--the Story of Jackie Robinson; The Value of Determination--the Story of Helen Keller; The Value of Respect--the Story of Abraham Lincoln.
One of the School of Life series, this is a great introduction to a French philosopher, Henri Bergson. He's not someone I'd heard of, although he was a contemporary of William James.
